Payment Options
Dr. Nilsson’s office bills most insurance companies and is an In-Network provider for many plans. The following are exceptions:
- Our office does not bill Medicaid or Medicare.
- Neurofeedback is self-pay only and is not billed to insurance, no exceptions.
The patient, not the insurance company, is ultimately responsible to pay for services provided by Dr. Nilsson. Each insurance plan is different. It is very important for you, the patient, to verify insurance coverage before your first appointment with Dr. Nilsson. This includes determining if pre-authorization is required.
- To help you with this, we have compiled a “Verification of Benefits Worksheet” to use when calling your insurance company.
Co-pays, co-insurances and deductibles are due at time of service. We accept cash, check, and credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express). We do offer discounts if services are not billed through insurance.
Some services provided by Dr. Nilsson are not covered by insurance plans, pre-payment for these services is required. These services include but are not limited to phone / school consultations and processing of paperwork (ie. additional correspondence, disability paperwork, additional copies of the evaluation etc.)
Insurance cannot be billed for services related to Dr. Nilsson providing an expert witness opinion (forensic evaluation, legal proceedings etc.). A retainer is required on all services in which Dr. Nilsson is providing an expert witness opinion.
